The Team

Natalia S. Pellegata
Principal Investigator
I have decades long experience on the genetic predisposition to neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms causing them. My work led to the discovery of CDKN1B as a tumor susceptibility gene causing the MEN4 syndrome. I have identified new therapeutic targets, and evaluated in vitro and in vivo personalized treatment approaches for several NETs. I have received a career award from the Italian Association for NETs.

Francesco Ascione
3rd Year Ph.D. Student
I am currently a Ph.D. student with a background in Biotechnology and Biology. My research centers on the study of therapeutic agents directed against specific therapeutic targets of neuroendocrine tumors and on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying their mode of action.

Fabio L. Guzzi
1st Year Ph.D. Student
I am currenlty a Ph.D. student in genetics, molecular, and cellular biology. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, and then I specialized in biology with a molecular focus. Currently, my Ph.D. project centers on M13 oncolytic phages, exploring their potential applications in cancer therapy.

Paola Canale
1st Year Ph.D. Student
I am currently a Ph.D. student in Genetics, Molecular, and Cellular Biology. I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biology, with a focus on molecular aspects. During my training. My current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying cellular plasticity in PPGLs.

Marta Catania
Research Fellow
I am currently a Research Fellow with a background in Biology, having obtained both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees with an emphasis on molecular biology. My work mainly focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying the crosstalk between fibroblasts and tumor cells.
